The Marina Bay Street Circuit threads through the city's downtown core, past the Padang, alongside Marina Bay, under the Singapore Flyer. Singapore Grand Prix 2026 session schedule

This is the detail most guides to Singapore still get wrong, because it changed: 2026 is a sprint weekend, and that reshapes the entire three days.

On a conventional weekend, Friday is two practice sessions and Saturday morning is a third. Here there is only one practice session in the entire weekend, and the sprint takes the place of the third. The practical consequence is that every day carries something competitive. Friday is no longer a warm-up you can skip, because sprint qualifying sets the sprint grid. Saturday is the busiest day of the three, holding both a points-paying race and the qualifying session that decides Sunday's grid.

Session times are set by the FIA and confirmed closer to the weekend, so treat any published start time as indicative until the organiser confirms it.

Which day to attend the Singapore Grand Prix

If you are buying a single day rather than the full weekend, the sprint format changes the usual answer.

• Saturday is the strongest single day in 2026. It is the only day with two competitive sessions, a points-paying sprint race and then Grand Prix qualifying under lights. Qualifying at Marina Bay is a genuine event in its own right, because overtaking on a street circuit is difficult enough that grid position carries unusual weight.
• Sunday is the race, the podium and the largest crowd, and it carries the biggest concert bill. It is the obvious choice if you are only coming for one thing.
• Friday is the quietest and cheapest of the three, and in a sprint year it is no longer a throwaway, since sprint qualifying is a timed competitive session. It is the best day for walking the circuit and finding your viewing spots without the Sunday crush.

Singapore Grand Prix ticket zones explained

The circuit park is divided into Zones 1 to 4, and the rule that governs everything is simple but easy to get backwards: your ticket admits you to its own zone plus every higher-numbered zone.

• A Zone 1 ticket reaches all four zones, so it is the freest ticket on the circuit.
• A Zone 4 ticket reaches Zone 4 only.

This matters more than the grandstand name printed on the ticket, because it determines how much of the circuit park, how many viewing platforms and which performance stages you can actually walk to across the evening. Before comparing two grandstands on price, check which zone each one sits in.

The second distinction is grandstand against walkabout. A grandstand ticket is a reserved, numbered seat with a clear view of one part of the track. A walkabout ticket is general admission with no fixed seat, letting you move between viewing platforms around the circuit. Neither is straightforwardly better: a grandstand guarantees a seat and a sightline, a walkabout trades both for the run of the zones your ticket opens.

Which Singapore Grand Prix grandstand to choose

One correction worth making first, because it persists across a lot of older guides and listings: the Bay Grandstand no longer exists. The 27,000-seat structure was removed in 2023, and the Bayfront Grandstand is its successor at that end of the circuit. A guide still recommending the Bay Grandstand has not been updated in three years.

The Padang Grandstand sits on the driver's left with a view of cars coming out of Turn 9 and running along St Andrew's Road at around 240km/h, and it puts you beside the Padang Stage, which is where the headline concerts happen. That combination, fast track section plus the main stage, is why it tends to be the first grandstand to sell.

Because layouts, names and availability are set each year, confirm the current grandstand list and seating plans on the official ticketing pages before booking.

The concerts, included with every ticket

Singapore is unusual among Grands Prix in that the music is not a paid add-on. Every race ticket includes access to that day's performances, across stages inside the circuit park, with no separate music pass to buy. For a large share of attendees this is half the reason to come.

The 2026 bill is substantial:

• Padang Stage, the main stage: JJ Lin on Friday, The Killers on Saturday, James Arthur and Lana Del Rey on Sunday.
• Wharf Stage: Split Enz on Friday, Goo Goo Dolls on Saturday, Janet Jackson on Sunday.
• Barge Stage, running DJ sets across the weekend, with Mark Ronson, DJ Snake, Major Lazer Soundsystem, ZHU, TOKiMONSTA and Flight Facilities among the names announced.

How to get to the Marina Bay Street Circuit

The circuit is in the middle of the city rather than outside it, which is the single best thing about attending this race. Its gates sit a short walk from seven different MRT stations, and the train comfortably beats any vehicle across a weekend when the downtown road network is heavily restricted.

• Bayfront for the waterfront end of the circuit.
• City Hall for the city side.
• Esplanade for the Padang Stage end.
• Nicoll Highway for the Zone 1 side.

Your ticket names the recommended gate on the back, and following it rather than the nearest station on a map avoids a long walk around a closed section. Gates also run an express lane for anyone entering without a bag, which on a busy evening is the fastest way in.

Gates open in the afternoon and staggered by day, earlier on Friday than on Sunday. Confirm the current times against the organiser before travelling, since they are set per edition.

What to bring to the Singapore Grand Prix

Bag rules are strict and enforced at every gate. Keep bags small, within roughly 30cm by 20cm by 30cm, and leave hard-shell cases behind, since anything rigid or much larger than A4 will not pass the check.

Beyond that, the weather does most of the deciding:

• A poncho, not an umbrella. Umbrellas are restricted in grandstands because they block the view behind you. October afternoons in Singapore carry a real chance of thunderstorms, typically heavy for twenty to forty minutes and then clearing.
• Ear protection. Worth it trackside, and essential if you are bringing children.
• A sealed water bottle, within the permitted size, plus a cooling towel. Humidity above 80 percent does more to tire people out than the temperature does.
• A power bank. A full evening of photographs, maps and timing apps will not survive on a phone alone.

Race-day temperatures still typically sit in the tropical high-20s to low-30s Celsius with high humidity, even after dark, and the circuit's proximity to open water does not change that much.
