What is the Miami Grand Prix?

The Miami Grand Prix runs at the Miami International Autodrome, a circuit laid out around the Hard Rock Stadium complex in Miami Gardens, and has been on the calendar since 2022. As of 1 September 2026 it is formally the Formula 1 Hard Rock Miami Grand Prix under a new naming rights deal. The 2027 date has not been published: previous editions have fallen on the first weekend of May, but that is a pattern rather than a confirmation.

Who goes to the Miami Grand Prix?

A markedly different crowd from the European rounds. Miami functions as a destination race with a heavy entertainment and celebrity presence, a large domestic American audience, and corporate hospitality drawn from Miami's finance, property and sports business. The proportion of attendees for whom the racing is the primary draw is lower here than at most rounds, which shapes the whole weekend.

The circuit is built around a stadium complex rather than through a city, so the walking distances on site are substantial and the shade is limited. Early May in South Florida is hot and humid with a real chance of afternoon storms, and the site offers less natural shelter than most permanent circuits. Race week extends across Miami Beach, Wynwood and Brickell with a dense programme of parties, brand activations and club nights, most of it privately run and separately ticketed, and much of it with no formal connection to Formula 1. Grand Circle organises none of it.

How to get to the Miami International Autodrome

Hard Rock Stadium is in Miami Gardens, roughly 25 kilometres north of downtown Miami and further from Miami Beach. Traffic on race days is severe and parking is pre-booked. Allow considerably more time than a map suggests, and check what your ticket includes for parking or shuttle access before arranging transport.

Where to stay for the Miami Grand Prix

Most visitors stay in Miami Beach, Brickell or downtown and travel north to the circuit, accepting a long transfer in exchange for being where the rest of the week happens. Aventura and Fort Lauderdale are closer to the track and quieter. Nothing walkable to the circuit is a conventional visitor base.
